It’s all about new found love, confusions and entanglements, lies and truths on the brand new EP ‘Unspoken‘ by Tessa Dixson. The Brussel based singer and songwriter released her alternative pop debut album ‘Genesis’ in 2020 where the focus was on discovering and showing herself as well as learning through this process.
With her amazing follow-up EP the talented artist, with Californian roots, gives us an even more personal insight and lifts the lid on vulnerability and deep honesty. We are super excited to premiere her lead single and video ‘Bad Thoughts‘ on C-Heads today, a song that deals with the issue of infidelity and the power one has to make you stay. And you can tell that Tess has a degree in Graphic Design – at the L’école de Recherche Graphique de Bruxelles, in Brussels – where she also uses other art forms like performance, painting and photography to mix her art. And so ‘Bad Thoughts‘ has become a marvelous genre-blending song, with a touch of sparkling, captivating mysticism. Tessa decided to use a mythological angle to display the story and came across the myth of “Medea”, a Greek goddess, descendant of Helios, who decides to kill her 2 children because her husband is unfaithful.
The music video was entirely filmed in analog and Tessa told us a bit about the making of: “The process of creating the visual story for “Bad Thoughts” was truly inspiring as I dived deep into mythology to find a story that resonated with the song. Finding the myth of Medea and shortly after the movie “Medea” by Lars Von Trier, a spark was ignited as the story and visual aspect of the music video started to become clear in my head. Together with Gleb Bondarenko, a director from Belarus now living in Brussels, we directly saw eye to eye on how we wanted the music video to look and slowly created the storyline inspired from the myth of Medea and visually inspired by Lars Von Trier, Ingmar Bergmann and Andreï Tarkovsky. Jumping from very cinematographic still shots to dynamic dancing, I feel we really will be able to capture the viewers attention from beginning to end.”
