“For a while I wanted to build a set that would bring another image of summer than the one by the Mediterranean sea we all picture and would have an old French wild spirit kind of vibe.”
Inmidst of hazy autumn days we take a slight detour back to a warm summer remembrance somewhere in France with photographer Agathe Karsenti and model Laura Bensadoun. And so we bath our eyes in a blazing sunflower field, the burbling of water and an azure sky.
“I reached out to Laura a few months ago. We were both busy at the time and didn’t manage to meet, but I kept the idea in the back of my mind. When I planned on going to spend a week in the countryside of Paris I thought it was the perfect moment to reach out again and create something: for a while I wanted to build a set that would bring another image of summer than the one by the Mediterranean sea we all picture and would have an old French wild spirit kind of vibe. Laura embodies this image in my mind. She loved this bucolic idea and that’s how she joined me for a day in the sunflower fields, under the heat of late August.
The result feels so light, warm and genuine. You can almost feel the sun on your skin by looking at these images. Laura has so much presence and aura, she lives in the middle of the sunflowers almost like a vision and makes you feel the genuineness of the moment.”
Story shot on film, a mix of 35mm and 120mm.
