While the cold season is slowly moving through the country, the trees have lost most of their leaves and a quiet melancholy is looming because of the ephemerality, I listen to the new EP Emanuel by Benj Hartwig.
An unbelievable complexity is revealed in this 4-song EP by the Swiss artist who has found magic in silence. As a wanderer, you know when it’s time to move on, and in life it’s always the paths you have to take to get away, being in a deep flow. The many sleepless nights were too much, the energy and sound of the crowd no longer overwhelming, and in the end he was drawn by a new direction.
He was attracted up high, to the Swiss Alps, and spent his days climbing these impressive giants. Oh what beauty there is in silence. Because silence creates room for questions that will probably remain unanswered forever, but which are so important.
The EP is a collection of memorable and captivating electronic melodies, with all the questions, answers and a kind of anticipation. The sheer uniqueness of the vocal ranges of Fiona Daniel, Jonas Tran, Silent Neighbor and Amélie Junes are a blend between intimacy and melancholy which take listeners on emotional journeys.
