“I like working with natural light, flares, lens aberrations, and surprising and mindful moments that make each image feel personal and diaristic.” Growing up in Hawaii and Oregon and living in LA, photographer Phillip Van knows how to take advantage of natural light. And in his latest C-Heads Exclusive, the golden glow of the sun blankets the beauty Effy Harvard, transforming the images into narrative stories.
Stories of moments in which the truth lies in the moment, facing the sun, the lightness of being, and a sense of timelessness with no rush. “The location aligned with Effy’s regal, chic, old-Hollywood look, throwing back to the vintage Vanity Fair and Vogue editorials that inspired me most as a photographer,” Phillip tells us. “Our vision for the shoot was to seamlessly blend a breezy, cabana ambiance with a majestic, secluded hills retreat aesthetic.” Styling done by Sonya Burns and beachwood house provided by Trudi Kennedy.
