Steh Meyer‘s recent photo series paints a vibrant story woven in with her muse, the Mallorcan surfer girl and artist Alissa Borsani. Conceived in the east of the island, in Cala Ratjada, the series is bathed in the warm hues of dawn and saturated with the relaxed ambience of the Mediterranean summer.
Meyer captures the morning’s events with a mix of fondness and whimsy. “We woke up at sunrise, grabbed the surfboard and coffee to go,” she shares. The adventure did not stop despite the lack of waves. As Meyer recounts, “Alissa simply decided to get naked. I of course had my camera the whole time.”
The backdrop changes to the private beach of Meyer’s hotel in Illetes. Here, the photos become a silent observer to Alissa’s art in progress. “We set a scenario for Ali to paint and I registered as she did,” Meyer says. An unanticipated incident during this session adds a layer of humor to the overall narrative. “At one point I forgot to re-load my film camera,” she admits. This bittersweet moment is seen through Meyer’s lens, a glimpse into the unplanned yet authentic moments that occur during her photography process.
By the end of the session, Alissa’s energy is visibly captured within each photograph, an echo of Meyer’s sentiment. “Ali is one of the most energetic people I have ever met and I think it really shows in the pictures,” she states.
Indeed, like a fresh breeze, Steh Meyer’s photo series carries a gust of creativity and inspiration, enveloping us in a candidly captured world brimming with spontaneity, energy, and the unadulterated joy of an artist’s life. It’s an invitation to partake in the harmonious dance of body and soul with nature, a tangible reminder of the happiness embedded in our connection with the natural world. Enjoy!
