Lily Hain is spicing things up.

The American singer-songwriter has been crafting melodies since she was just a little girl growing up in the mid-Atlantic province of North Carolina. Now based in New York, she’s found a home in organic, soulful musings, rife with fingerpicked guitars, and crooning melodies. However, on her latest single “Spicy” the Carolinian presents a more airtight version of herself. Adding both edge and groove, she channels a range of sensibilities that live somewhere between The Best Damn Thing-era Avril Lavigne and Maggie Rogers in her current form. Held in contrast with her previous entries, it’s a departing glance of sorts. Nonetheless, it’s just a tip of what’s to come, an anticipated debut full-length, expected in early 2024.

“Spicy is about a breakup. Initially things ended amicably but then the other person tried to return only to do something that really angered me. So I decided to channel all my frustration into this song as a way to let it go.”
