“It’s great to have all these different avenues for music now – it’s not all on Bad Sounds. It’s one of the things that means we’re probably as confident as musicians now as we’ve ever been.” says Ewan of Bad Sounds, summarizing the spirit of diversification that characterizes their latest project. With the release of ‘Beggin’, taken from the upcoming EP ‘Escaping From a Violent Time, Vol. 4‘, the Merrett brothers, Ewan and Callum, continue to showcase their ingenuity within the indie-pop scene.
From their roots, recording on an old four-track cassette recorder, the self-taught producers and multi-instrumentalists have evolved, unshaped by formal training, but rather through hands-on experience. Despite the setbacks, including a departure from a major label and the universal upheaval brought by Covid-19, Bad Sounds have emerged with a renewed sense of purpose and a sound that has gained depth and complexity through their trials.
The tune ‘Beggin’ unfurls a soundscape that is smooth and rhythmic, setting a steady tempo for head-nodding and mood-lifting. Much like the music video, it creates an atmosphere that’s playful and amusing, capturing a lighthearted and charming vibe. Just perfect for the weekend start!
