Enjoy a series by London-based photographer Sundari, whose images, reflective of a soft dream, represent the feminine side of nature. Starring model Grace of BAME. Hair and Make-up done by Emma Jane.
“I recently watched the Virgin Suicides and was spellbound by the beauty but also the tragedy of a woman’s youthfulness and the projections of society and others’ opinions on how they should act right down to who they should be. This story was a soft exploration into vulnerable feminity while owning strength and power over her softness. She isn’t dictated to us but shown in all the facets of her womanhood and the possibilities of her self.
Women are so important and narrating (or photographing) them is so integral to the world. To keep telling their stories and showing their magic. I choose to photograph in a way that doesn’t strip away the identity of whom I am photographing but in a way, bring out something that highlights them. Build something from their energy alone.
This particular editorial with its simplicity I hope tells us of her softness, her innocence but her absolute power of herself.
I chose Acne Studio pieces for their minimality and wanted to hark back to the early 90s in its gentle styling without making it obviously about the fashion and more about amplifying her.”
