María Sofía Ardila enchants us with her positive vibe and gorgeous smile. Enjoy this new exclusive series by photographer Alexander Tarazona.
“It’s the first day of the year, as I jot down notes on my phone—the first ones of the year—for my inaugural photo shoot.
I’ve been traveling through the Santander department in Colombia. It’s my first time here. Small villages surrounded by nature. Many trees, white facades, and clay tiles on houses seem frozen in time, transporting you back to the ’60s (which I’ll soon share with you when I develop my film-rolls).
During this journey through Santander, I met María Sofía in Bucaramanga. She invited me to her home to create together on a sunny morning. Radiant, sweet, strong, bright—and I’m not talking about the sun, but about her. A morning filled with wine, film, and laughter. The best way to start the year.
It’s surprising how difficult it is to do something for the first time and how easy it is to forget it, at times.
The first time you read a book, that new book smells. The first time you shot with an analog camera. The first time you felt fear or laughed out loud. Your first kiss, the first letter, the first time you fell in love, the first time your heart was broken, and you swore you wouldn’t fall in love again but still did.
It’s incredible how first times can last forever.
One day, just like any other, you meet someone who makes you feel like you haven’t experienced anything before.
And that the first time is not always the first.”
Alexander Tarazona also contributed to our newest C-Heads print volume 38. The issue delves into the art of slowing down, celebrates the joy of crafting, invites you to feel the freedom from society’s temporal constraints, and captures the alluring sentiment that everything looks more beautiful under the sun.
