Today was one of those days – a crazy day at work with so many tasks that my head felt like it was going to burst, difficult encounters with people from the past, and a mind filled with worry about whether everything will be alright. After a few moments of relieving silence as I come home, I turn on some music because it always helps me to unwind. And as if on cue, the new track “Sidelines” by The Day starts playing. I take a deep breath and hum along to the positive sound, feeling the weight of the day melt away.
“Sidelines is basically about looking at yourself from the outside, and what it’s like to find peace in the validation of others. But in all the chaos of thoughts, you know that you are not alone. And that you first have to accept things as they are. Because you also know that one day everything will be okay again,” the Antwerp and Hamburg-based dream-pop duo explains about the track, the latest single from the band’s second album ‘The Kids Are Alright’, set to be released on May 10th, 2024, via Sinnbus Records.
On the album, they delve into loneliness and the threat of loss of control, aiming to offer listeners, as well as themselves, a place of peace and confirmation, and a starting point for jointly overcoming isolation and the inability to act. And now, turn on the music, and simply enjoy:
