Years in the making, Dubai-based producer Myrillion is finally making his debut. From LA to the UK to Dubai, what he said began as a folder of demos titled “Flow” has evolved into a full-blown artist project. For his first, “La Petite Mort,” which translates to “the little death” from French, he’s teamed up with a frequent collaborator, South African singer-songwriter Leoné Murphy. Murphy’s silky vocals comb over Myrillion’s backdrop, principally comprised of colorful keys, wet drums, and a lush string section. It’s a haunting piece – a sonic “fever dream” of sorts that its authors aimed to capture the blitzing onset of infatuation with. While it may be the first collaboration the duo has shared, it appears it won’t be the last, as 2024 is just getting started, and the two apparently have been working together for much longer than meets the eye.

“‘La Petite Mort’ is about the madness brought on by infatuation.”
“We wanted ‘La Petite Mort’ to sort of wash over you again and again. To feel like a fever dream – a bit like that initial madness you go through when falling in love. The strings and cinematic elements definitely bring some romance but the bass and deep groove try and evoke that intensity, and at times the instability.”
