As the morning sun gently seeps through the landscape, a hopeful promise blankets the yet unstarted day. It’s alive with strength, overflowing with desires and longings. In our latest photographic series, Aline D’Ávila shared a marvelous day with photographer João Hazin, capturing these effortless moments.
João:
“I took these photos in May 2021, on a warm afternoon in Aline’s garden. Aline is a very dear friend of mine, and we had been talking about taking these photos for some time before we finally did. I remember we were listening to Olivia Rodrigo’s recent album, “Sour”, the entire time. I like to think that even though it wasn’t a direct inspiration before the shoot, it somehow ended up manifesting in the photos, as purple popped up in some of them and Aline’s attitude perfectly matched the playfulness and youthfulness of Olivia’s songs. The shoot wasn’t heavily planned; it was all organic and intimate as we took photos, talked, and explored different ideas. In the end, we ate cake and talked some more as the sun went down. A few days later, we hit up this Japanese joint on a remote beach about 40 minutes from home. It’s a picturesque spot where loads of cultures collide, creating this one-of-a-kind vibe. There, we took some more pictures. I really enjoy this homely approach because I believe it emphasizes her beauty. And she is very beautiful. I hope you can perceive it through these simple photos <3”
Aline:
“The photo shoot happened so organically. João didn’t have a specific ambition in mind when taking the photos, and I had no idea something so beautiful could come out of it. After that experience, I started feeling more comfortable in front of the camera. It was so much fun going through that process!”
