Verena Vötter, a passionate fashion photographer, has recently shot a new series featuring the stunning Fatima, represented by PARS Models. This time, she adopted a theme close to her heart: sustainable fashion. Here are her thoughts on the project:
“I have always loved fashion, particularly fashion photography. However, there’s an undeniable conflict: our consumption of fashion is wreaking havoc on the planet and harming people.
In response, I styled this series using second-hand clothes. It would have been effortless to “borrow” clothes from major brands like H&M, creating a series that blends in with the rest. Yet, choosing this path took courage and underscores an important point: doing something different requires bravery. The paradox is that while adhering to the norm may attract clients, so can standing out by doing something unique. There is no definitive right or wrong approach.
Fast fashion fuels pollution, exploits labor, and wastes precious resources. By opting for second-hand clothing, we can mitigate our environmental impact and foster ethical consumption. That’s why I chose to style this series with pre-loved fashion. My hope is to inspire others to rethink their choices—not to buy new, but to reimagine and restyle what they already have, whether from their own wardrobes or local thrift stores.”
