Photographer Brianna Mancini captured the essence of carefree friendship on a spontaneous afternoon in Costa Rica. Featuring models Vera and Claire, these images were brought to life against the stunning backdrop of W3orges.
Developed and scanned by Augustisloading at Proimage Photo, this series encapsulates the magic of unplanned moments.
Brianna: “This photo shoot was as impromptu as it gets. After months of promising Claire I’d visit her in Costa Rica after we met there last year, I finally showed up for an off-season change of pace. Vera, another vacationer who never went back home, joined Claire and me for two weeks of early-morning surf sessions, late-night cooking, and incredibly lazy afternoons in hammocks. The rainy season turned out to be a dreamy escape that forced us into idle days of reading, napping, and not much else.
“These spontaneous shoots—the ones that don’t feel like a photo shoot at all—with reluctantly natural models tend to be the most captivating.”
I had stayed home from surfing to nap, and when Claire and Vera returned, they had two pieces of news: the waves were terrible, and they discovered a breathtaking trail through the jungle to the beach. The light was fading fast with a storm coming in, but Vera was leaving in the morning, so I grabbed some film, and we ran back to the trail. These spontaneous shoots—the ones that don’t feel like a photo shoot at all—with reluctantly natural models tend to be the most captivating.”
