What inspired you to model and how has your journey been so far?
My main inspiration for modeling came from my love for fashion, especially Parisian wear. Ever since I saw videos from Paris fashion week in magazines and videos, I immediately wanted to do the same thing. My journey has been amazing so far, from meeting the most wonderful people at runway shows and photoshoots and having them blossom into long-lasting friendships.
How did you prepare mentally and emotionally for this kind of intimate and vulnerable photoshoot?
How I prepared for this kind of photoshoot was based on a few factors. One of them being my comfortability with my amazing photographer, Michael. At the beginning of the shoot, I didn’t even expect myself to do these photos; it just naturally happened. They explained exactly what was going on, made me feel my best, and only had me do what I was comfortable with. My other factor is that you need to be confident in yourself. This is a shoot that I have always wanted to do but that I never knew I could do because I was always too nervous. But everything just naturally flowed, and we had a great time.
What role do you think nature plays in the way we perceive body positivity and self-acceptance?
The way nature plays a role in body positivity and self-acceptance is just feeling the calmness surround you and the natural flow of the earth. A few times during the shoot, I just sat in silence and took in the scenery. Just looking out at the water made me notice how perfect and peaceful the scenery was and made me feel more in touch with myself and my surroundings. It also helped me recognize how natural our bodies are and how important it is to accept and be grateful for all our bodies do for us.
“You need to be confident in yourself. This is a shoot that I have always wanted to do but never knew I could do because I was always too nervous.”
Looking back on the experience, what did you learn about yourself through this unique photoshoot?
Looking back on this experience, it made me learn and accept that everyone has the same thing—a body, a vessel that supports and keeps you alive. There is nothing to be ashamed of or feel embarrassed about when everyone has the exact same thing.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be to bring world peace. Everyone should be able to enjoy a safe environment wherever they are living. And to be kind to one another no matter what someone is going through.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
If I could give myself one piece of advice to my younger self, it would be to not worry too much about where I am going and also to take those opportunities that come at you because they may be more helpful than you think.
The most important thing in life is?
The most important thing in life, I think, is your family and to keep those relationships strong. Even family members that are not always the nicest may need something, and you must always help where you can. Keep those relationships close and long-lasting and make the most out of your time with them.
