Hailing from small-town Australia, Ninajirachi has accomplished quite a bit in her young 24 years. With three before it, the Melbourne-based producer is back with her fourth full-length effort, girl EDM (disc 1) — a bold stab at evolution not just for herself, but the genre as well. Released through NLV Records, the project is like a time capsule of sorts. Pulling from the prolific dance music of the late 2000s and early 2010s its also brushed by a fresh, glitchy twist, signature of Nina herself.
While the record’s focal track “1×1” is undeniable, also of note is opener “Angel Music,” a collaboration with NYC duo MGNA Crrrta. “We made this track while on tour across the States,” Ninajirachi says. “When I dropped it at EDC, the energy was off the charts—I knew we had to finish it ASAP. MGNA Crrrta are pure genius; their creativity is next level.” And in MGNA Crrrta’s words, “This isn’t just a song; it’s a whole international vibe.”

“It’s just girl EDM…You get it or you don’t. People love to ask artists how they’d describe their sound, and recently I realised mine is literally girl EDM. EDM was the music that first made me want to become a producer when I was a 12 year old in 2012. My taste grew and changed but EDM and dance pop raised me and so many in my generation.”
