This beautiful film series, captured by Pavel Demidovich, takes us on a journey into the depths of the ocean, a captivating exploration of both the sea and the human spirit. With models Potyra, Natasha, and Tatyana, the images tell a story of adventure and artistry, all set against the stunning backdrop of Sri Lanka’s waters. It evokes a sense of adventure, suggesting a journey into uncharted waters and hidden beauty just past familiar boundaries.
Pavel Demidovich tells: “As winter approached, I made a spontaneous decision to escape to the sun-kissed shores of Sri Lanka. Eager to capture the vibrant life of the ocean, I had ordered a Nikonos V camera, renowned for its underwater capabilities. Just two days before my departure, the camera arrived, leaving me with only one day to familiarize myself with its intricate workings.
My wife and I decided to head to the pool for a quick test. With sunlight dancing on the water, I snapped a few shots, relieved to find the camera in perfect working order. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of an unforgettable journey.
Once in Sri Lanka, I embarked on the most challenging and thrilling photo shoots of my life. Armed with my rented flippers and a surfboard, I ventured out into the azure waters, accompanied by models who were just as eager to explore. We swam about 800 to 1000 meters from the shore, the thrill of capturing the perfect shot driving us deeper into the ocean’s embrace.
However, the journey back to land proved to be a true test of endurance. As I fought against the waves, one leg would cramp, then the other, but the stunning images captured in those moments made every struggle worthwhile. Each click of the shutter was a testament to the beauty of adventure and the joys of pursuing a passion.
As the sun set on my time in Sri Lanka, I reflected on the challenges faced and the breathtaking images created. It was a winter to remember, filled with both struggle and triumph, and a newfound appreciation for the art of photography.”
He continues: “While organizing a recent photo shoot, I faced an unexpected challenge: I couldn’t easily sign a model release. Living in Weligama (Sri Lanka), a small village, finding a place to print a model release was surprisingly difficult. I ended up traveling 10 kilometers just to get the necessary document printed. That’s when the idea for SnapSign came to me—a solution to sign model releases anywhere, without needing access to a printer.
I shared this idea with my wife, who is our talented UI/UX designer, and we began working on the app’s concept and development. Our goal was to create a tool that not only simplified the process of signing model releases but also made it user-friendly and visually appealing.
As SnapSign evolved, we quickly realized this wasn’t just solving a personal problem. Photographers and filmmakers around the world faced the same issue—needing to sign or manage model releases on the go, often in remote or inconvenient locations. Today, SnapSign is a fully realized project that has been embraced by the creative community. We’ve received fantastic feedback from photographers and filmmakers who love how easy it makes managing and signing model releases.”
