This series captures the beauty of model Marine Viggiano as well as the breathtaking, serene landscapes of Méribel and Courchevel. Photography and words by David ANDRE-WOJCIECKOWSKI.
“Earlier this summer, I came across Vyolet’s portfolio while scouting models for an Italian shoe brand’s FW lookbook. Her strong presence immediately captivated me. It was clear she was perfect for the project. As the client quickly approved her and since the shoot location was close to my home in the French Alps, I invited her to stay a few extra days to try to create a more editorial series. I didn’t plan anything specific; most of my energy had been consumed by the meticulous organization of the lookbook shoot. Instead, I decided to keep things organic. I took her to some of my favorite places in the area, letting her choose the styling for each set from a mix of pieces we’d both collected.
My goal was simple: to provide her a freedom frame of time and space, with the idea of allowing her to simply be and express herself. Vyolet effortlessly adapted to the rhythm of the place. Watching her embrace the landscapes felt like a revelation. Her clear, piercing eyes seemed to absorb the beauty around her, as if she were finding a quiet sense of peace in the rawness of the surroundings. Her presence in front of the camera was both soft and commanding. She moved as if guided by her own poetry, her body becoming the conduit for the magic she felt. Her poses were like a human dance, oscillating between shadows and light, creating a dialogue between strength and vulnerability.
“I find beauty in chaos, in imperfection, in the unfiltered mess of life.”
To me, beauty is intangible—almost ungraspable. What’s beautiful differs from one person to another, yet we all converge on a shared understanding of its essence. It’s like a fleeting concept, impossible to define but universally felt. Photographing Vyolet, witnessing her authenticity, made me realize I’m not drawn to perfection. I don’t enjoy things that are too smooth, too polished. Perfection, in its predictability, feels lifeless to me. I find beauty in chaos, in imperfection, in the unfiltered mess of life. Take cities like Marseille, Palermo, or Naples. Many see them as chaotic, dirty, even dangerous—full of narrow streets and wild, unpredictable human energy. Yet to me, they pulse with life. There’s a raw, vibrant magic to their disorder, an honesty that refuses to hide behind a polished facade. And it’s the same with people. Vyolet is not smooth. She’s raw, honest, and unapologetically herself. She brings her past and her dreams into the present moment, letting them flow naturally into her poses. There’s no filter, no pretense—just a beautiful, unguarded truth. “Show me a completely smooth operation and I’ll show you someone who’s covering mistakes. Real boats rock.” – Franck Herbert
