With our series “An artist’s life.” we want to share the stories of the people behind the art.
Carla Martín, is a Spanish photographer that has been traveling around Australia, Korea and the Philippines lately. During her trips she started a series of pictures about finding beauty and meaning in everyday moments.
“The art of watching others engage in simple, everyday activities holds a profound value that is often overlooked. I love observing someone deeply absorbed in a book, cooking with a dedication that transforms the moment into something unique, or simply strolling through the streets, savoring the scenery without haste. While these gestures are part of daily life, I realize they carry a much deeper meaning.
“There is beauty in the ordinary and a reminder of our shared humanity in everyday moments.”
Through them, I can sense people’s emotions, thoughts, and moods. When I observe these moments with care, I feel a connection to a profoundly human aspect—something that can be difficult to grasp amidst the chaos of routine. This reflection could be conceptualized as an exploration of mindful observation and its ability to bridge the inner world of individuals with those around them. It speaks to the beauty in the ordinary and reminds us of the shared humanity visible in everyday moments.”
