If you’re on the lookout for fresh music, and you’re a fan of smooth, chill vibes that brighten up your everyday life, we’ve got a wonderful recommendation for you today. Meet daste., an Australian trio whose music feels like stepping into a gentle, calming dream. Their newest album, dasteWORLD, is a captivating musical journey that invites you into their universe of warmth, positivity, and emotional authenticity. As the band beautifully put it themselves: “Writing music together has always felt like creating our own little world.”
Growing up on Australia’s sun-soaked east coast, daste.’s members naturally absorbed the laid-back, carefree energy that defines their sound. Drawing from diverse influences, they’ve carefully created an album filled with short, heartfelt songs designed to evoke genuine emotions. Songs like Grapevine or Want to Know are beautifully deep tracks that melt straight into your soul and feel truly soothing. “Whether it’s positive, sad, introspective, or motivating—if our music makes someone feel something, we feel we’ve done something special.” they say.
We had the pleasure of speaking with daste. about their inspirations, dreams, and the emotional essence behind dasteWORLD.

You mentioned that writing this album felt like ‘world-building.’ Could you tell us on what you mean by that?
We’ve always felt that writing music together was like a little world that the three of us could escape into, and throughout all of our releases, we like to add small references to other songs of ours. We see this as a form of world-building, and we loved the idea of incorporating this into the concept for the album.
What’s one song on dasteWORLD that you feel defines the album’s essence the most, and why?
I don’t think there’s any one song that defines the essence of the album more than another. We like to make so much different music with a variety of influences and genres. The only way you can fully capture the essence of the album is by listening from start to finish.
I really love the calm vibe of the album; it’s just perfect for creating positive feelings. Is that something you love to hear? (smiles)
It’s always so nice to hear the album is evoking some sort of emotion. Whether the music makes someone happy, sad, introspective, motivated – whatever it is, we feel like we’ve done something special.
“Experiences like these come and go in a flash. You have to remind yourself how quickly life moves and savor every moment.”
I noticed that many of your song titles are quite short and concise, and the tracks themselves are around two minutes long. Was this an intentional choice, or did the songs naturally take shape in this way?
We’ve always had this unwritten rule of keeping our songs to the point. Every decision we make is made to serve the song itself and if we feel like one part of a song is taking away from all the other good stuff – we’re never afraid to shorten tracks to make it as faultless as possible. Perhaps the industry is changing as attention spans are shorter, but for us, these decisions are based purely on what’s best for the song at hand.
One of your tracks is called Chasing. What are you chasing in life right now?
We’re just chasing our dreams. We’re forever chasing our dreams.
“Writing music together has always felt like creating our own little world.”
With your upcoming UK/EU tour, what are you most looking forward to— whether it’s the shows, the cities, or something unexpected?
We’re looking forward to exploring new places, eating new foods, making more memories together and ultimately most excited to be playing the new music to new audiences.
Touring often creates a sense of nostalgia and fleeting moments. Do you have any rituals to stay present and soak it all in?
We have lots of great tour memories already and each of them come from just remembering you only live once and experiences like this can come and go in a flash. You have to remind yourself of how quickly life can pass by and it will help you stay present and enjoy each and every second you get to spend on the other side of the world with your best friends playing music.
