Sometimes, good things take time—just like the shoot with model Silke Jaegers and Maastricht based photographer Guy Houben. We’re thrilled that they created this stunning series and we’ve completely fallen in love with Silke’s natural beauty.
Guy Houben: A photoshoot with Silke had been long in the making. Years ago, we had planned to meet in The Hague, but life had other plans. Still, I followed her work and noticed she had begun posting dreamy selfies aboard an old Dutch boat.
Curious, I reached out. Was it hers? I asked. Would she be interested in finally making our long-awaited collaboration happen? To my delight, she told me the boat belonged to her parents and that she cherished spending time there alone—reading and unwinding from her busy work life. And yes—she would love to shoot there.
The day of the photoshoot arrived, and as I stepped aboard, I was immediately inspired. The boat was everything I had imagined—aged oak beams, brass fixtures catching the light, the scent of varnished wood mingling with the crisp air. It felt like the perfect place to capture Silke, simply being herself.
At one point, she climbed onto the deck, the wind playing with her hair as she balanced on the edge. There was a stillness in that moment—just the soft lapping of water against the hull, the distant cry of a seagull, and the quiet hum of the shutter capturing a long-overdue collaboration finally coming to life.
