Letting go of something is one of the most painful crossroads. Who wants to release something they’ve held onto so tightly—something they still long for—knowing deep down it won’t return? It’s that quiet space between fear and hope, between wanting to hold on and needing to move on. That in-between place where nothing is clear. The weight of the unresolved.
This is where Sofi Nova begins her new single. “I wrote Limbo on an evening when I wanted to capture the moment of uncertainty, stuck in the unknowing about where things were going.” Sofi shares. “When you’re feeling afraid to hold on for too long, yet not wanting to let go. I hope it resonates with anyone who has ever felt in limbo in a relationship.”
“Limbo” is a deeply personal and universally relatable track about the uncertainty of a relationship’s future, the desire to make it work, and the feeling of being stuck in limbo.”
Out today, Limbo is the third release from the London-born multi-disciplinary artist, following Nothing Ever Changes and Our Love Is Dead. Known for her emotionally-driven songwriting and genre-blending sound, Sofi Nova weaves together Drum & Bass, Soul, and psychedelic electronic R&B to create music that sits in the rawness of feeling—without rushing to fix it.
Co-produced with George Gianluca in the intimacy of her bedroom studio, Limbo captures the fragile emotional moment we’ve all been in: waiting for something to shift, to end, or to begin again. It’s the sound of silence after a fight, the shadow of a conversation that never happened, the quiet question—should I stay, or is this the part where I let go?
Limbo is part of a series of upcoming singles leading up to Sofi’s debut EP Heartbreak Chronicles, set for release on July 14th. If you’ve ever been caught between what you feel and what you know, this one’s for you.
