Amid the vinyl-lined walls of Dodo Beach, time softened its edges. The crackle of records, the smell of aged cardboard, the quiet rhythm of flipping through forgotten favorites — it was there that Sheila Santos stepped in, effortlessly syncing with the space as though the place had been waiting for her.
The collaboration came to life after photographer Frederick Fairytale and Sheila connected via Instagram and quickly agreed to meet for a shoot once she arrived in Berlin. It was Sheila who suggested a record store — a location the photographer initially hesitated about, concerned it might feel too cliché. But the result was quite the opposite.
“It turned out to have a very nice, cinematic feel to the photos,” he said. “I had Dodo Beach in mind because I’ve been there before and really loved the store. André from Dodo Beach gave us the permission to shoot for two hours.”
Despite it not being his best day, the experience became a memorable one. “Shooting with Sheila was fantastic. She made it enjoyable. She is very talented and has carried the vibe of the place onto the photographs,” he said. “I’m very satisfied with the photos and can highly recommend everyone to have a shoot with Sheila.”
A sweet twist of fate added a final touch of serendipity to the day: as a child, Sheila was lovingly nicknamed Dodo.
